Alison Strang Versatility Challenge
The Alison Strang Versatility Challenge is to recognize outstanding achievement by a Toller in multiple venues and to promote continued versatility in the Breed.
General Information
To qualify for this award a dog must complete either a CKC Championship Title and/or a CKC Field Title. Only these two Titles can be completed prior to the 2-year time-frame as laid out below. A dog must then obtain CKC Certificates in a minimum of 3 additional separate venues. Title Points are cumulative. A Minimum of 5 Titles are required and must be achieved in the 2-year time-frame between National Specialties. There is no maximum for titles earned.
There will be a GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE awarded to the top 3 qualifying Dogs. The Award is to honour the top 3 dogs in the specified 2-year period. Any one dog can only receive each level, BRONZE, SILVER and GOLD a maximum of one time. If a dog receives the Bronze Award, he/she is still eligible to receive the Silver or Gold. If a dog is awarded Silver he/she is still eligible for the Gold. If a dog is awarded Gold he/she is no longer eligible for this award.
Copies of all CKC Certificates are required as evidence of completed Titles in order to be counted towards your point total. Partially completed legs will not be counted.
Title Certificates must be submitted by April 30 prior to the upcoming Specialty.
Any Certificates received after this date will not count.
The time-frame to complete the requirements is from January 1 to January 1 coinciding with the National Specialty years, ie 2021, 2023 etc. This is to allow enough time for Certificates to be received from the CKC and then sent in to be calculated for your point total.
The Points awarded are cumulative and are totaled based on certificates received by April 30 prior to the National Specialty in the 2-year period. For example, if a dog receives a CD and CDX in the same 2-year period, the points for the CD would be 2 points and the points awarded for the CDX would be 4 points. Both Titles will count towards the dog’s total. This is applicable across all the eligible events.
The points for BISS, BOSS, SELECT DOG and SELECT BITCH from the previous National Specialty only can be included as part of a dog’s total points in order to accommodate the tallying of points so that the award can be given out at the following Specialty Banquet Dinner.
This award will be given out every 2 years. If the recipient is not in attendance at the specialty banquet the award will be sent to them.
All EVENTS other than BISS, BOSS, SELECT DOG and SELECT BITCH will require proof of a Certificate of completion.
This Award is for Canadian Kennel Club Titles only.
Only Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of Canada members are eligible for this award. Members must be in good standing with the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of Canada and must maintain their membership during the qualifying time-frame. A lapse in payment of membership dues will result in disqualification from the Alison Strang Versatility Challenge.
*PLEASE NOTE – February 3, 2020: Since this award has been announced a full year into the qualification time it has been decided that we will allow people to apply for membership up until March 31, 2020 and titles they received during 2019 will count towards their point total. This will be a one time exception which will only be valid for this first 2 year qualification period. It will not be an option for the 2023 award cycle.
The NSDTRCC reserves the right to add in other venues when the CKC develops new events and there are multiple Tollers competing in the event.
